"In the Bible, the word Antichrist is only used as a description of people who don't believe in the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. He is not described as one satanic entity - as the beast of Revelation which many people believe - but as a person, any person, who deviates from the Christian orthodoxy. But through years of myth-making and fear sowing, Christianity metamorphosed antichrists into a single Antichrist, an apocalyptic villain and bogeyman used to scare people as much as Santa Claus is used to regulate children's behavior. After years of studying the concept, I began to realize that the Antichrist is a character - a metaphor...The apocalypse doesn't have to be fire and brimstone. It could happen on a personal level. If you believe you're the center of your own universe and you want to see the universe destroyed, it only takes one bullet." -Marilyn Manson

No One Loves Me

Christina Aguilera is getting married, so there go my future wedding plans.  And as if that wasn't bad enough, Marilyn Manson will be married in April.  So my heterosexual and homosexual (should things ever go that way) are taken.  <whimper>

Birds

Do you think a flock of birds consist of birds that are friends?  Do birds just wander from group to group or are they more exclusive?

Living Situation

I'm really excited that plans for my living location next year are solidifying a little bit more.  Gotta go looking for places and such, but it doesn't seem like it will be a problem.

Lack of Partying

I'm amused that people call me to find out what's going on or if my house is having a party, but then we're out of the loop when there's something else going on.  I don't care too much; I was working last night and I guess a party got busted, so I didn't miss out.  But first I hear there was a party that Joe stumbled upon but we weren't told about, then I hear rumors we're having a party tonight.  Maybe if we're in the mood, but I'm really not gonna stretch myself to have people over who come solely because there's alcohol.

Back Again

I'm so stressed about things I can't control.  I don't know where I'll live next year, or for how long.  I don't know where I'll teach or where I'll go after that.  I don't know what happens with Lauren and myself...hard to believe you can just call something like this quits, but I have no idea where I'll be.  I don't want to be an adult.  I don't want to hurry other people along to this unknown future.  I'll tell kids they should read good books and worry about grammar while I know it's more marketable to take business or science classes.  I don't know...a lot of confusion.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow.  Bryant and Anna Jo may be looking to do something.

No idea what to do for Valentine's Day either.  I got pounded by school and work and the time I planned on preparing disappeared very quickly.  It's hard to do things really special in Morris, and even Willmar isn't anything spectacular.  I just don't know how to express to this girl that she means a ton to me.  Especially with V-day and our 2 fucking year anniversary two days later, I'm really feeling unprepared--maybe due to advertising telling people that guys give women diamonds for every anniversary.  I find it difficult because I don't need anything special for occasions...just relaxing and not being at work is great for me, but I feel the need to dazzle, but not the ability.

I heard the partying tonight at the Met was kinda lame.  Not unhappy that I missed it.  Maybe a big house like the compound will be available next year and we can have some decent parties.  Don't even know where I'd live...people seem to be very non-committal and I don't even know if a house is feasible....not if I'm the only one.

I loved Matt's lovelines in the UR...clever dude

Night at Bryant's

Bryant's was a good time, and now I've got to see the film I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!  Sally's afterward for cheap Morgan/Cokes, followed by the worse sleep of my life.

Disappointing Work by American Head Charge

I listened to a couple of songs from the new American Head Charge album and had to stop...it was just too disappointing.  Completely different from the first album, lacking the creativity the first one had.  This one has many songs sounding the same with more of an 80's metal sound in respect to the relationship between vocals and instruments.  Not cool, guys.  I'll probably have to go to their show at 1st Ave on Feb. 5 anyway to listen to stuff from their first album and Otep will be there!!!!!  Yay!!

A Shift in What is Sold to Us

It kinda slipped by me, but did everyone else notice that psychic networks really dwindled since Sept. 11th and all of the wars afterward?  Guess we shifted from being completely self-centered, asking about our love lives and Miss Cleo can't handle questions like "Where's Osama" and "Where are the WMDs?"  I just found that interesting.  To replace it, Girls Gone Wild has stepped up to the plate to get this country out of its state of fear and back in its self-loving state of being it belongs in.  Thank you, America!

Scary Thought...

Today news stations showed our unimpressive president supporting tsunami relief, saying it shows the compassion of our country.  This is just one resource, but more can't be hard to find.  We're gonna imprison "possible terrorists" (anyone with brown skin and a beard) for life without a trial.  Pretty sweet and compassionate, huh?

Lugar Condemns Plan To Jail Detainees for Life

Date: 03--2005

Reuters

A leading Republican senator yesterday condemned as "a bad idea" a reported U.S. plan to keep some suspected terrorists imprisoned for a lifetime even if the government lacks evidence to charge them.

The Pentagon and the CIA have asked the White House to decide on a more permanent approach for those it is unwilling to set free or turn over to U.S. or foreign courts, The Washington Post said in a report yesterday that cited intelligence, defense and diplomatic officials.

Sen. Richard G. Lugar called indefinite holding of terror suspects "a bad idea."

Some detentions could potentially last a lifetime, the report said.

Influential senators denounced the idea as probably unconstitutional.

"It's a bad idea. So we ought to get over it and we ought to have a very careful, constitutional look at this," Sen. Richard G. Lugar (R-Ind.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said on "Fox News Sunday."

Sen. Carl M. Levin (Mich.), senior Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, cited earlier U.S. Supreme Court decisions. "There must be some modicum, some semblance of due process . . . if you're going to detain people, whether it's for life or whether it's for years," Levin said, also on Fox.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The State Department declined to comment, and a Pentagon spokeswoman, Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke of the Air Force, had no information on the reported plan.

As part of a solution, the Defense Department, which holds 500 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, plans to ask Congress for $25 million to build a 200-bed prison to hold detainees who are unlikely to ever go through a military tribunal for lack of evidence, defense officials told The Post.

The new prison, dubbed Camp 6, would allow inmates more comfort and freedom than they have now and would be designed for prisoners the government believes have no more intelligence to share.

The Post said the outcome of a review underway would also affect those expected to be captured in the course of future counterterrorism operations.

One proposal would transfer large numbers of Afghan, Saudi and Yemeni detainees from the Guantanamo Bay detention center into new U.S.-built prisons in their home countries, it said.
